SBC Distribution Guide for Employers

Update on Uniform Summary of Benefits & Coverage (part 2)
This release is an update to a prior update AHNJ released. The timetable for their SBC's to be ready for distribution has been pushed back. Brokers can access on ROAM as of 9/17/12, paper distribution will be ready 9/23/12, and Xpress on 10/17/12.

Employers should prepare to report cost-of-coverage information
Employers issing W2 forms to employees in January 2013 for the 2012 tax year are required per PPACA to disclose total cost of their employee health coverage on W2. Those who file 250 or fewer are not required under 2013 tax year.

AHNJ statement on US Supreme Court Decision
AHNJ releases their update regarding the landmark 5-4 ruling on PPACA, stating the individual mandate is within the power of Congress to impose as its a tax (at its core). Without this mandate, the other aspects of PPACA could not be funded.

Minimum Medical Loss Ration Provision
As part of the AHNJ implementation of the MLR provision of Health Care Reform, AHNJ will be sending notices to groups in order to classify them as small or large. This is new requirement by HHS and response is needed from employer by 2/20/12.
