Report: 74% of large employers will have telehealth options in 2016

The use of telemedicine is increasing, and it could save employers in the U.S. more than $6 billion annually, according to Towers Watson. The National Business Group on Health has projected that 74% of large employers will offer telemedicine options in 2016, up from 48% in 2014.

Momentum Grows for Cadillac Tax repeal

Groups and lawmakers across the political spectrum are reaching consensus that the Affordable Care Act’s excise tax on health insurance premiums above a certain amount should be repealed or changed. The rule, scheduled to take effect in 2018, levies a 40% tax on costs above $10,200 for individual health plans and $27,500 for family coverage. By 2022, nearly 60% of employers will be subject to the tax, a Mercer survey found.
